One Sock Down, One To Go

I finished one sock!! Although it looks HUGE on the needles, it was only slightly loose on me. Yay! That means I don't have to frantically search for someone with "fat" calves to give it to. *smile* I have problems keeping the yarn tight between the dpn needles. Somehow, no matter how tight I pull on the yarn, there's still a gap between stitches. I really hope the stitches will even out after blocking. *keeping my fingers crossed* (p.s. my calves look huge because it's closer to the viewfinder :P)

I've always had a "thing" for knitted home decor items - a warm cozy blanket, fluffy soft cushions, colorfully unique placemates - they are all so pretty! But since all my friends are either renting or still living with their parents, there has not been an opportunity to make such things as gifts... until NOW. A friend recently got his own flat. He's one of the first people I know who has his own place so I'm really excited for him. Even if it looks like an Ikea showroom. Er... there's nothing wrong with that! In fact, it's a beautiful flat, but it just seems that something is missing. Perhaps an aran pillow (or two) can add some zing?! I also adore the matching afghan... but I don't think guys dig granny blankets. Oh well!

Your friend is lucky to have someone knit things for his new home!
Your sock looks good ... keep going with the second one. Don't let the second sock syndrome set in! ;)

you're so sweet to knit something for your friend. Nice colours and stripes on your socks.

The knitted sock usually looks bigger than when on the foot, don't worry about that. And I love knitted or hand-crafted home decor too, just that sometimes, one only needs that number of cushions in the house.

They are both masculine and beautiful projects. He should be lucky to have someone knit one or both these pieces for him.
When my guy and I started dating, he brought out an afghan his grandmother knitted him. The cuddle action and quality of blanket won my heart.

better not to do an afghan... from personal experience, they take quite some time! i'm still working on mine for my house (they get soooo boring). but that's nice of you... maybe some pillows with a cool intarsia print?

by the way, what sock yarn did u use? those are great colors!
