First was the "baby" theme. Everyone around me seemed to be having babies and I churned out the baby blanket, teddy bears, baby clothes... now, the current theme is property ownership!
Mr. Ikea Showroom's cushion cover is almost done. The picture of the pattern was not very clear and didn't quite turn out the way I hoped. I had originally thought there would be cables and moss stitches galore, but turns out it features a boxed pattern. Actually, it's more masculine this way so I guess it better suits Mr. Ikea Showroom.
Next, I will embark in a grande project for a(nother) friend's grande mortgage. Her baby recieved the multi-color baby blanket and she had hinted the desire for a "big person blanket". Since she is moving into a HOUSE (and she's a super-sweet friend), I think that justifies making a blanket, yes? I will probably make this one (rich cables), it works in panels and should be more convenient. Unfortunately, probably what will happen is this: by the time the blanket is finished, her "little person" will have grown up to be a "big person". :P
In the meantime, more pressing projects are the family's socks. Some strange impulse got into me and I bought socks yarn to make Christmas presents for my dad, mom and 2 sisters. What was I thinking? Will I finish in time for December? That's 8 socks... but at least I have finished my first pair of socks for my "fat calves"! Thanks for all the nice comments! The yarn is Confetti DGB yarn (#193?) on 2.75mm needles. I used the Patons Kroy yarn pattern so it's slightly loose, but here's a pattern customized for this yarn.

Your socks are very cute. And great job knitting two. I only say that because I am the worst at finishing a pair. I get so excited to try out a new yarn that I end up with single socks all over the place!
They are good! Yeah, 8 socks seem to be a lot! But don't worry, choose simple patterns ... soon you'll find you love knitting socks.
Socks are great presents. They'll get done before you know it.
I was thinking of learning to do socks so I could give them as presents too. Do they take a long time to do? Your first socks look great! I bought some self patterning sock yarn too!
Love those socks!
Lovely socks!!!
