Summer in Toronto!!

Summer is officially here, and I just finished my mohair FBS shawl. I know it makes no sense (mohair for the summer!?) but the FBS has been in the works for over a year now, I just HAD to finish it after seeing the fabulous lace shawls from other fellow bloggers. So many mishaps with the FBS from my Hong Kong > Vancouver > Toronto relocation last year. With just 30 more rows to go, I was in HK knitting when I ran out of yarn (meanwhile the yarn was on its way to Vancouver). Then, when the piece reunited with the yarn in Vancouver, I realized the pattern was still in Hong Kong! Finally, all thee pieces (the body, the yarn, the pattern) are together at last. Although I've neglected it for awhile, here it is... very fuzzy and it sheds on anything and everything it touches, but it's still kinda pretty.

It's been a busy June here in TO... Blues Festival, Taste of Little Italy, Blue Jays, World Cup Fever, sister C and other visitors in town, visiting the Niagara Falls, MuchMusic Video Awards, Pride Week, Jazz Festival...

July will be even busier! I will be in HK for a short visit (in a bridesmaid costume for gf H's wedding), sister B in town, gf C in town, a trip to Calgary,
Summerlicious....

I'm trying to find ways to squeeze in some more knitting, especially on my vacations. Damn those terroritsts, if it wasn't for them, I'd knit on the plane!!!! Wonder if I could get away with carrying on wooden needles? They look like mini chop sticks anyway. But what if security confiscates my project? I don't want another case of relocation/travel mishaps. URGH!!!!

FBS is one of my fave patterns and yours looks really pretty in cream. I was on a flight in June and I carried my kimono shawl in progress in my hand luggage and went through with no mishap, but I was prepared to pull out the circular needle and leave it behind if I had to. Desperate knitters :)

The shawl is beautiful. Not sure about Canada or China, but knitting needles are allowed on the planes in the U.S., England, and the Netherlands. I know because I knit on the plane all the time.

Yay! You finished it! It'll be useful in aircon rooms. :)

I've managed to get Denise needles on the plane a couple of times. Definitely worth a try on such long flights. Will we see you in HK? :)

Thank you for dropping by:) It is always great to finish an old project and move on to new ones..

Do you know u can check about bring knitting needles onboard on the flight website? For extra measure, bring plastic needles and a return address envelope so that the customs ppl can send them back to your home if it doesn't go thru!

Happy knitting

Beautiful shawl! I print off a copy of the official regulations that say knitting needles are allowed, so if there is any question I can pull out the official word. Haven't had any problems though.

Your shawl looks lovely! It's great to be able to finish it!

I am often worried about my needles when I fly but could not help to stay in the airplane without any knitting project. Haven't had any problems so far, I think the bamboo ones are allowed.
Have a good trip!
